Meet Dr. Jason Ballengee
Jason Ballengee, Ph. D. attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX starting in 2004. He was a summer intern at SBC (now AT&T), CPS Energy, and Exelon Nuclear throughout his undergrad. He was part of many societies such as the Trinity Symphony Orchestra and National Society of Collegiate Scholars and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 2008. In 2008, Dr. Ballengee attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where he was a Ph.D. student and a research assistant. He developed new composite ion-exchange membranes for fuel cells and supervised several undergraduate research projects, served as a Teaching Assistant, and gave several guest lecturers to various classes in the Chemical Engineering Department.
After receiving his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2013, he became a Material Scientist at sp3 nanotech in Carrollton, TX where his research focus was on nanoparticle surface functionalization, evaluating nanoparticles as additives for lubricants and high-strength plastics, and pilot-scale nanoparticle production. Concurrent to his time at sp3 nanotech, he was a superforecaster for the Good Judgement Project and now, Dr. Ballengee currently works in PepsiCo's Global R&D "Discovery and Disruption" team as the Associate Principal Engineer. He scouts for new technologies and ideas to test at the bench-scale and select the best ones to lead to pilot-scale feasibility. In addition, he seeks to convince the broader business to fully commercialize the technology based on both its technical and business merits. Dr. Ballengee is the current Chairman of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers - Dallas Local Section. |
